(283 words) Fedor Mikhailovich Dostoevsky is considered to be a true genius and master of a psychological novel. Thanks to his extraordinary talent for “penetrating” the souls of people around him, the famous Russian writer and publicist of the 19th century was able not only to tell about the difficult fate of the student Rodion Raskolnikov, but also to make the reader think about such a subjective concept as justice.
If you ask people what they mean by the word “justice”, each of the respondents will respond with only approximate phrases, since justice is abstract and variable. It is also impossible to create absolutely equal conditions for the existence of humanity on earth. An example of this is unsuccessful attempts to build socialism and communism. As for the novel Crime and Punishment, or rather its main character, Rodion Raskolnikov, he, contrary to his own doubts, was nevertheless able (as it seemed to him) to derive a formula for nationwide happiness, to create a theory of saving mankind from cynical and deceitful people. For a long time he was thinking about who he really is: “a trembling creature” or “a right has”. As a result, such thoughts finally and irrevocably convinced the student to step over not only the law, but also himself. To the hero’s great surprise, the world not only did not get better, it got worse. Rodion Raskolnikov’s own inner world was destroyed. It is worth mentioning how in detail the author describes all the tones and transitions of the torment of conscience.
By his example, the young man proves that crime is always a breakdown, a split in the foundation of the world that you decided to build. Just as cracks in the wall of a house will never make it stronger, violence and lynching will not make life fairer. Thus, the socio-psychological novel F.M. Dostoevsky's "Crime and Punishment" makes one wonder whether it is worth destroying one life for another? The novel also raises the problem of justice, which is not so easy to solve. However, the author is sure of one thing: only love and faith in the best, in the light can defeat evil, but not aggression and revenge.
